We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Embedded Systems Engineer / Team Lead. In this role, you will play a critical part in designing, developing, and optimizing our cardiovascular diagnostic product line. You will lead a team and work closely with hardware engineers, software developers, and clinical experts, to ensure our products meet stringent regulatory standards and deliver exceptional performance.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, and optimization of embedded systems for medical devices, ensuring high reliability, safety, and performance.
  • Develop and maintain embedded firmware and software, including low-level device drivers, real-time operating systems, and communication protocols.
  • Perform system analysis and debugging to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues in embedded systems.
  • Contribute to the creation and review of technical documentation, including design specifications, test plans, and user manuals.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant medical device regulations, including FDA, ISO, and other industry standards.
  • Conduct code reviews and provided technical support to junior engineers.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define system requirements and ensure alignment with project goals.
  • Ensure the successful development and delivery of embedded systems, balancing technical requirements, resource constraints, and stakeholder expectations throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Hire and manage a team of developers, including both freelancers and FTEs.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends, applying this knowledge to improve existing systems and explore new opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electronics / Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in embedded systems engineering, with a strong background in medical device development.
  • Proficiency in embedded C/C++ programming and experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS) and Linux.
  • Solid understanding of hardware-software integration, including experience with microcontrollers, sensors, and communication interfaces).
  • Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git); development tools (e.g., IDEs, debuggers) and CI/CD and automation tools.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to analyse and debug complex systems.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.
  • Knowledge of medical device regulations and standards (e.g., IEC 62304, ISO 13485)
  • Experience with safety-critical systems and software development life cycle (SDLC) methodologies is a must.
  • Self-starter with excellent interpersonal, leadership and mentoring skills.
